National Affairs

• India observed Gandhi Jayanti and International Day of Non-Violence, commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary with nationwide events promoting peace and social harmony.
• The Union Cabinet approved a 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for central government employees and pensioners, applicable from July 2025.
• Cabinet approved setting up 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country with an estimated outlay of Rs. 5,862 crore to enhance educational infrastructure.
• Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched 'Swachh Shehar Jodi' mentorship initiative to improve urban waste management practices in Indian cities.
• Government mandated sound alerts in electric vehicles from October 2027 to ensure pedestrian safety and awareness.
• The National Dhanwantari Ayurveda Awards 2025 were conferred to promote excellence in Ayurveda-related fields.
• Deputy Director General Lt. Gen Virendra Vats took charge as Director General of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).

• PhonePe and Mastercard introduced a 'Tap & Pay' contactless payment feature to boost digital transactions in India.
• RBI reported that Rs 5,884 crore worth of Rs 2,000 notes were still in circulation despite demonetization measures.

• Agnikul Cosmos inaugurated India’s first large-format 3D printing facility for aerospace components at IIT Madras Research Park, Chennai.

Appointments & Honours

• Gaurav Banerjee was appointed as Managing Director and CEO of Sony Pictures India until 2029.
• Lt. Gen Virendra Vats assumed charge as the Director General of the NCC.

Environment & Governance

• Bihar’s Balod district declared as India’s first child marriage-free district.
• Centre approved Rs 2,960 crore investments pact between Godrej Agrovet, TATA Consumer Products and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries.
• The Competition Commission of India (CCI) approved the acquisition of Jaiprakash Associates by Jindal Power.
