National Affairs

  • The Union Cabinet approved the third phase (Phase III) of the Biomedical Research Career Programme (BRCP) for six years from 2025-26 to 2030-31, extending the programme for an additional six years to 2037-38 to promote biomedical research careers.
  • The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs approved widening and improvement of the 85.675 km long Kalibor-Numaligarh section of National Highway (NH) 715 in Assam to a 4-lane highway with a total budget outlay of Rs 6,957 crore.
  • The Cabinet approved opening 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) with an outlay of over Rs 5,862 crore to enhance quality education across the nation.
  • A 3% hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees and Dearness Relief (DR) for pensioners was approved by the Cabinet.
  • Maharashtra Government announced renaming of Navi Mumbai International Airport after Loknete Dinkar Balu (DB) Patil, with support from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state legislature.
  • Chhattisgarh’s Balod district became India’s first child marriage-free district through active awareness and law enforcement campaigns.
